The Vision & The Future
The class of 2007-08 put on a happy September face as they look forward to a school year of challenge and ultimate success. Place the cursor over faces for names.

   What began as a dream and a vision has fast become reality. Many members of the Kitsumkalum Community will, through hard work and dedication, achieve the requirements to complete their Grade 12 Graduation.

   Congratulations to everyone who has struggled to make the grade, and to the family members who have supported them. Without the additional support from everyone in the community and those who took a special interest in our school, our reality would still be just a dream.

   May you find strength and pride in what you have helped to accomplish. And may we all continue to do the necessary work to continue the valuable task of educating our people — both young, and not so young.

   The ´Na Aksa Gila Kyew Learning Centre assists adult students to achieve grade 12 graduation in preparation for a college education and ultimately a career.

Our School Crest

Our school crest was designed by ´Na Aksa Gila Kyew Learning Centre students in the fall of 2007. It represents the journey from the very first class to graduation. Translated, ´Na Aksa Gila Kyew means, "Where the robin goes to drink."

The components of the crest:

  1. The paddle represents a journey of discovery in venturing out into education;

  2. A helping hand — reaching out to students and the community;

  3. Water — nourishment; feeding the mind knowledge;

  4. The robin's egg — the beginning of life, held carefully by the mother and teacher;

  5. The Robin — represents "The People of the Robin";

  6. The robin's wing — flying to success;

  7. The sun — giving energy to students and staff;

  8. The face in the sun — represents the students and staff;

  9. Graduation scroll — the journey's reward.
